Commissioning an Artwork

In the event that you wish to commission an original artwork, please be mindful of the reasons why you are choosing to commission a Melanie Crawford Artist original artwork. Each artist has their own style, process and practices that make their pieces unique and recognisable.

Please understand that EVERY Melanie Crawford Artist original is a unique, one-of-a-kind piece that CANNOT BE REPLICATED for a commission. Every artwork has it’s own intricacies and these cannot be reproduced. Your commission may be based on elements from another piece but will never be exactly the same. This is a distinct hallmark of my art which I value and why I don’t make copies and prints of my work.

STEP 1 - INITIAL BRIEF
To begin the process of creating your unique and individual artwork, we work through size, palette and style of the artwork you are wanting. From there, you will be provided with a quotation for the scope of work as per the agreed brief. If the brief changes during the creative process, additional costs may apply.

STEP 2 - 40% DEPOSIT
Once the quotation has been accepted, you will be required to pay a 40% non-refundable deposit. This deposit covers sourcing and ordering materials and secures studio time for me to commence creating. The best way for this is to purchase a Melanie Crawford Artist Gift Card to the value of the 40% deposit.

STEP 3 - CREATING YOUR ARTWORK
Once materials have arrived at my studio, I will begin my process of creating your artwork. This can take between 2-4 weeks. Once I have reached a stage where I am happy with your artwork, I will send you images for your consideration. If necessary, you will be able to make one round of alterations at this point, to reach a stage that we agree the brief has been fulfilled.

STEP 4 - FINAL PAYMENT & SHIPPING
Your artwork will be finished with gloss varnish, wired ready-to-hang, and packaged securely ready to freight. Prior to a courier collecting your artwork, you will be required to finalise full payment via website checkout.

STEP 5 - RECEIVING YOUR ARTWORK
Once you receive your artwork, all you have to do is carefully unpackage it and hang it in the perfect space! I hope that it will be a piece that you LOVE and is personal, unique and special to you.

If for some reason you are not 100% happy with the final product, please contact me as soon as possible at art@melaniecrawford.com.au. Unfortunately, the 40% deposit is non-refundable so my preference is to find a solution to make commissioning an artwork as positive an experience as possible. As per the Returns Policy, any costs to return the item to me will be deducted from any refund, where valid.
